Did You Know...

... that an active Indoor Cloud League winter season is coming?

Clash of Champions at Inflight Dubai
posted Dec 1st, 2015 - The November competition of the Indoor Cloud League was in its last days while the best teams in the world were flying in the 16-foot chamber of Inflight Dubai for the $200,000 jackpot at the Clash of Champions.

Indoor Skydive Roosendaal was also running the annual ISR Grand Prix last Saturday, and Thunder ISR had to miss the event on the team's home soil. The Sun Path Products NSL News has posted the scores and will follow up with more information later.

The Indoor Cloud League teams still have a few days to submit videos and scores for flying sessions that were done at the end of last month, and the current leaderboard will change again very soon.

iFLY Orlando and Hurricane Factory are currently holding five of the six highscores, and the Florida team is one point ahead of the Czech Republic. Three Czech teams also competed in Dubai last week. Two of them won their categories (HF Chicks - AA, Flying Circus - A) and brought home some serious cash.

The R Class highscore (25) is still in iFLY Dallas possession. It was once again former Airspeed member Todd Hawkins who guided two Rookie Class flyers (Eliel Rodriguez, Zach Breaux) and fellow coach Amy Haass to the 25-pointer.

It was not an easy month for the iFLY Dallas team. Amanda Lampton said that "there was quite the hangover" after the USPA Nationals 2015 where teams from Texas once again crowded the leaderboards. Amanda Lampton herself had competed in the AAA/Open Class, as the Sun Path Products NSL News reported on November 18th.

Hit it hard next year: Crackers and Beans
Amanda Lampton had fewer coaches available than usual, "with everybody getting back to their day jobs". The six lineups included the R Class team with Todd Hawkins, which "is looking really good". She said that Zach Breaux “started skydiving just a handful of months ago and already has a couple hundred jumps, a decent amount of tunnel time, and wants to compete in 4-way FS next year”.

Eliel Rodriguez has been one of Amanda Lampton's 1-on-1 student almost once a month for about a year, and he has improved a lot since she started working with him. She added that other ICL competitors are ready to make plans for 2016, as well: "Dave Eisele and Genifer Oliver are both ready to hit it hard for next season, as is Michael Erickson with his team, Crackers and Beans."

Even some of Skydive Dallas instructors and video staff, Jackie Ellis and Bryce Willing, came again to compete with Amanda Lampton's ICL group, and she expects an active winter season: "There is also interest from several others wanting to improve both their basic body flight and FS skills. This should be a fun, productive off season for the Dallas Indoor Cloud League regulars."

iFLY Seattle's Indoor Cloud League team in November
Deb Correia experimented with a new format at the same time at iFLY Seattle. She said that it's probably the one she will stick with:

"In the past, we've booked an entire hour, and each group flew two or three sequences in eight sessions. Afterwards, each group debriefed independently to save time and not be at the tunnel too long on a week night. This month, we booked two 30-minute sessions on a Sunday evening, with a half-hour break in between. The goal was for each team to fly two sequences, get out, debrief anything major, and then get back in to fly the same sequences again."

Unfortunately, there was some camera and recording trouble; however, the videos were at least usable after fixing the issues. After the second session was debriefed, the coaches flew the AA and AAA sequences. Jeff Smith and Djordje Mandaric flew in both sessions. Bill Selig and Denis Pershakov were in the AA Class lineup, while Dave Correia and Steve Platt scored in the AAA Class. Steve Platt has been a 4-way competitor for many years and now served for his first time as a player coach for the iFLY Seattle team.
