Did You Know...

... that iFLY Seattle added a new Rookie Class project to the Indoor Cloud League activities?

NWSL Rookie Class event at iFLY Seattle
posted Sep 4th, 2015 - The German Nationals 2015 have naturally received the main attention for a few days, before it will turn to the FAI World Cup 2015 on the upcoming weekend.

However, other updates have been posted in the meantime, and the Indoor Cloud League leaderboard for the month of August is almost complete.

Deb Correia reported from the Northwest that iFLY Seattle held two events this month: "The first was a 2:2 skills camp focused on bringing in some newer fliers for the Rookie Class categories. We had eight participants and eight coaches. Each person got two sessions of 1:1 coaching to start, and then we combined the groups for 2:2 and flew the Rookie Class sequences. We had two participants who had flown with us before, Babs Selig and John Brown, and it was great to get some new people involved."

She said that it required a greater effort to organize the event with several new participants the coaches have not seen before. However, she plans to continue this format in the future. New participants were Amira Morghem and Lauren Galloway with coaches Deb Correia and Bill Selig. Sarah Jacobs and Babs Selig trained with coaches David Zhang and Andrey Ulanov. Brian Bomhoff and John Brown had coaches Dave Correia and Djordje Mandaric, Kyle Donohue and Josh Middleton Jeff Smith and Jay Alspach.

The second and main Indoor Cloud League event included four groups performing the four traditional 4-way categories (AAA - AA - A - RRR). Most teams took on two different sequences, and Deb Correia said that the Cataccord (Random Formation G) proved to be a challenge.

Sarah Jacobs, Jim Stark and Nat Mote competed with coach Deb Correia. Matthias Kaminski, Randy Barbee and Kurt Ferstl had coach Jeffrey Smith in their lineup. John Brown and Daniel Larson had two player coaches (Djordje Mandaric, Dmitry Rudchenko). David Zhang guided Steve Platt, Isaac Bahr and Paul Stoddard through the ICL sequences for August.

After the main event, the five coaches (Deb Correia, Djordje Mandaric, Jeff Smith, Dmitry Rudchenko, David Zhang) then flew the AAA and AA Class sequences. The coaches challenged themselves by performing the AAA Class sequences in different ways. The front piece (Djordje Mandaric, Dmitry Rudchenko) did it twice without slot switching after Block 3, and twice with the slot switching engineering. It was an interesting exercise, Deb Correia said...
