Did You Know...

... that Deep Blue is taking care of the next French 4-way generation?

Growing family: Aerokart Deep Blue at the 2nd DIPC 2011
posted Aug 12th, 2015 - The French world champions of 2010 in 4-way Women, Aerokart Deep Blue, have made the Sun Path Products NSL News many times when they were training and competing between 2008 and 2010. The team story began in 2008, as the Sun Path Products NSL News reported on June 10th, 2008.

It was not only the athletic performance of the original lineup (Sophie Deremaux, Berangere Duplouy, Francoise Simons-Hamouchi, Amelie Tirman) that caught the special attention of the skydiving world, as Deep Blue became one of the best 4-way teams in the world, not only in 4-way Women. Deep Blue was also the perfect example of a 4-way family with very tight bonds and great dynamics.

It was not a surprise that the Deep Blue story was from over after winning the gold medals in Menzelinsk 2010.

Summer 2015 vacation at Les Landes
Some team members continued to defend the French gold medals in this event successfully in 2012 (Amelie Tirman, Sophie Deremaux), and there were annual reunions with members of the original lineup.

It was difficult for the original lineup to get together for the reunions, as the Deep Blue family kept growing over the years. In fact, Berangere Duplouy and Francoise Simons-Hamouchi were pregnant when Deep Blue attended the team's last outdoor competition with the original lineup at the 2nd Dubai International Parachuting Championship 2011.

Patrick Boulongne filled a Deep Blue slot for Amelie Tirman at the Aerokart Indoor Championship 2012, which was a part of the next family story. Berangere Duplouy and Francoise Simons-Hamouchi were happy mothers by then, while Patrick Boulogne and Sophie Deremaux were working on their own family situation. They got married later the same year, shortly before Sophie Deremaux helped the Deep Blue Defenders to win the gold medals at the Mondial Dubai 2012. Laurence Herve could not compete due to a broken ankle.

Deep Blue freeflying formation
The original lineup was back together at the Aerokart Indoor Championship 2013 and then at the World Challenge 2013, before it was Amelie Tirman's and Sophie Deremaux's turn to become mothers at the beginning of 2014. Sophie Deremaux, Francoise Simons-Hamouchi and Amelie Tirman then had to replace Berangere Duplouy with Clementine Le Bohec when the Deep Blue 2014 reunion won the FAI Indoor World Cup with a 24.7 average.

The 2015 reunion did not take place in a wind tunnel chamber. Amelie Tirman said that the original Deep Blue lineup has been gathering every summer since 2007, either for training, competition or summer vacation. This year, the complete Deep Blue family visited "Les Landes", a big forest in the southwest of France. There are four mothers and seven children at this point in time. Deep Blue tried to organize a dirtdive for a Star with the kids, and Amelie Tirman said it was not easy: "Some of them don't want to stay on the belly, which might be caused by having a freeflyer dad. So we decided to put them all on the back..."

It seems like the next French 4-way generation after the Ak'demie project is getting ready for action. Deep Blue alone could almost provide two 4-way teams. Berangere Duplouy hinted that this mission might get completed soon: "Our kids are ready for a 4-way team, maybe 2 teams soon..??"
