NSL News Coverage of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024

Did You Know...

... that China's national 4-way team is in 2nd place of the AAA Class leaderboard?

Jump preparations with coach Solly Williams
posted Jun 24th, 2015 - Last weekend's leaderboard is the largest one of the 2015 season, disregarding the indoor scores of the World Challenge 2015. 61 teams used the same competition draw, and the A Class had the highest participation with 19 teams.

The Sun Path Products NSL News still goes back one more time to the AAA Class competition, where the meet videos of winner Thunder ISR are the highlight of the coverage.

Nine AAA Class teams completed between four (Florida) and ten (Midwest) rounds at four different locations last weekend. However, the rankings were hardly effected at all by the different numbers of rounds. Only Bodyflight Aero and Teiwaz were switched after Round 4.

China's national 4-way team at the World Meet 2008
NSL-TV has now added new meet videos of last weekend's competition, and they were recorded at Skydive DeLand. China's national 4-way team in the Open Class concluded a training camp with the five meet rounds that were completed before Florida summer weather terminated the competition.

Solly Williams was once again working with the Chinese team, who had also competed at the Mondial Dubai 2012 and at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2013.

Last weekend's competition videos are the last ones for this lineup. All team members are only in their 20's (Feng Feng - 29, Jian Xiao - 29, Xia Ling - 26, Xin Tao - 26, Meng Zhu on camera - 27) and they are still at the end of their career in the national team.

China at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2013
Solly Williams said that the Chinese national coach is now recruiting the next national 4-way lieup. Zhang Hongwei was a member of the Chinese national 4-way team at the World Meet 1989 in Spain, where a surprising performance forced the US 4-way team into a jump-off round for the bronze medals.

Zhang Hongwei had re-joined the international 4-way community with a Chinese 4-way team at the World Meet 2008 in Maubeuge, France, with a 7.7 average in 20th place. Three of the 2008 members (Feng Feng, Xia Ling, Jian Xiao) were still in last weekend's lineup. They were teenagers when they were selected for China's national team.

Zhang Hongwei will now be looking for new Chinese teenagers, and the average age of the team members will once again drop below 20 years. However, the new national team will probably not begin at a 7.7 average...
