Did You Know...

... that the Paraclete XP Championships story goes back to the 2007 season?

First outdoor event in 2014: Z-Scrambles at Skydive City
posted Jan 4th, 2014 - It will still take a little while until the first scores of the 2014 season will be posted on SKYLEAGUE.COM. Indoor Cloud League scores don't show automatically on the front page, even if any of the groups provided videos and numbers for January earlier than usual.

Indoor competition scores will still be the first ones posted, as the winter season is increasingly filled with wind tunnel meets. The Czech Republic Skydiving League has the next competition at the Sportsflight Skydive Arena scheduled for January 16, which will be followed by the annual event at SkyVenture New Hampshire.

The first casual outdoor competition is the Z-Scrambles at Skydive City on the February 1 weekend before it becomes very serious at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2014, preceded by the also very competitive Paraclete XP Indoor Championship in 4way and 8way.

Awards at the Paraclete XP Money Meet 2007
The history of this year's Paraclete XP Indoor and Outdoor double header goes back to the 2007 season, and the 2014 format is a result of an evolution to the best possible situation for the participating teams.

Tim D'Annunzio, a former Golden Knights member and still passionate 4way and 8way competitor, launched his first Paraclete XP competition in July 2007, the Paraclete XP Money Meet. It was a part of the Carolina Skydiving League season and also attracted the best US 4way teams to Raeford. Arizona Airspeed's new lineup (Odyssey) won by one point over the Golden Knights.

The new Paraclete XP wind tunnel was ready for action a year later, and Tim and John D'Annunzio now added a 10-round indoor competition to the Money Meet. Several of the AAA Class teams completed 20 rounds of 4way competition in the three June days of 2008, and the new NSL-TV video clips feature this event.

It was an intense schedule in 2008, and Paraclete XP followed up with only the indoor part in 2009. Perris Fury's original lineup outscored Arizona Airspeed who competed with two substitutes (Thomas Hughes and John Eagle for Eliana Rodriguez and Craig Girard).

Paraclete XP skipped the 2010 season while Tim and John D'Annunzio and Kirk Verner were making plans for a new format, which was launched in 2011. The Paraclete XP Indoor Championship was moved to February and now also included 8way and several artistic events.

The original idea of combining indoor and outdoor competition action was still alive for the passionate D'Annunzio father and son team, and they continued with the same indoor event in early February while adding the former Shamrock Showdown in warm and sunny Florida in March to the Paraclete XP portfolio.

Busy 2008 meet schedule: Paraclete XP Indoor Money Meet 2008
Both events were very successful and generated once again a very precise prediction for the outcome of the world meet, in this case the Mondial Dubai 2012. The Golden Knights won the indoor and outdoor events at both Paraclete meets and then the 8way gold medals in Dubai. Arizona Airspeed did the same in 4way.

The Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders also followed the same pattern and won first the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2012 before taking the gold medals in Dubai. The success of 2012 encouraged Tim and John D'Annunzio to copy the format for another very successful event combination in 2013.

The Paraclete XP 2014 event package makes the indoor/outdoor combination even more attractive. Both events were now scheduled very close to each other, which allows visiting teams to attend both within ten days. It's once again a world meet year, and the stakes will be high at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2014 and at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2014.
