Did You Know...

... that Florida teams keep battling with the weather situation?

No meet jumps last weekend: DeLand Bees
posted Jun 17th, 2013 - Last weekend's overall leaderboard is so dominated by the Dutch teams at the Tomscat Trophy that the few teams of the Florida Skydiving League are almost unnoticed. Additional scores from Canada are also still to come.

The teams in Florida have not completed a 6-round competition this year so far. The summer weather and the timing of the meet weekends did not fit well between April and June. Only the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2013 in March was completed after ten rounds without any weather problems in DeLand.

DeLand Bees and the Teiwaz AA Class lineup tried to beat the weather somehow on Saturday and waited all day long without any success. Miami Exuberance was slightly better off with two rounds in Homestead, and the two Rookie Class teams completed even four rounds in Z-Hills. That was the maximum last weekend in Florida.

Three rounds with the complete lineup: Zunday
Miami Exuberance had Brett Scaglione back in the lineup, who had been grounded since January due to a rear end car accident while waiting at a stop light. Pam Manos reported that he did one solo jump before he came right back into 4way competition. She said that her team had "a fantastic time" at the comeback meet for the Exuberance Center Inside.

Meet organizer and coach Bob Byrne reported from Z-Hills that the three local teams (Zunday, Pyro4ic, FournicatorZ) were back with their original linups. Zunday had missed the May meet, while the two Rookie Class teams both attended their third meet this year.

The members of the three Z-Hills teams have all been participants of the monthly FSL Tunnel Kickers and Indoor Cloud League competition, which have helped to lift the scoring and performance level of the new generation of 4way competitors consistently.

Four rounds with the complete lineup: Pyro4ic
Bob Byrne said that the Meet at Skydive City in Z-Hills was cut short by bad weather on Saturday. The two Rookie class teams opted to continue on Sunday.

He said that the meet in Z-Hills enjoyed Tanya Murnock's assistance judging and Dave Ruffle's assistance coaching. Tanya Murnock is currently working on her USPA judges rating. She was visiting on leave from her military duty station overseas and volunteered to come back on Sunday morning.

FournicatorZ could complete one and Pyro4ic two more rounds and provide more evidence that they continue with the progression that Bob Byrne largely explains with the free coaching provided at the FSL Tunnel Kicker series at iFLY Orlando and at the FSL outdoor meets. Several competitors of last weekend's event at Skydive City will go back to iFLY Orlando on Tuesday evening to improve the FSL indoor scores for the month of June.
