NSL News Coverage of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024

Did You Know...

... that the Dallas Super Cup scores were boosted not only by a Super Sequence?

AA Class Super Sequence in Round 4
posted Sep 24th, 2012 - The 2012 season is also over for the 4way teams in Texas, except for those who will travel to Eloy for the USPA Nationals in October or to DeLand for the NSL Championship in November.

The Dallas Super Cup concluded the 2012 season in a fashionable way, as the competition draw for last weekend included a Super Sequence in Round 4 (J-F-E-Q-N). A sequence of only Random Formations is nothing unusual for Rookie Class teams, and the A Class draw includes sequences with three Random Formations on a regular basis, as well.

AAA Class teams and even AA Class teams have to wait much longer until a Super Sequence comes out of the hat or pops up from CamScore or any other draw programs. It happened last weekend for only the second time this year, and the teams in Texas and Florida could take advantage of the opportunity to boost their meet averages.

6-point sequence in AAA - Super Seqence in AA
A closer look at the draws of the 2012 season shows that there was one more Super Sequence drawn for Round 10 (F-O-K-J-C) on the meet weekend of July 14. A total of 56 teams competed, 20 in the AAA Class and 24 in the AA Class, but none of the teams came to Round 10 and the Super Sequence.

There are 63 competition draws in this year's NSL records, and not all of them were drawn by CamScore in the NSL office. It obviously does not happen too often that a Super Sequence is generated, manually or eletronically. There was a third Super Sequence (P-A-B-J-D) at the Italian Nationals 2012, which was drawn in Italy.

A Super Sequence comes a little bit more often out of the NSL competition draw for the AA Class teams. It can happen whenever a Block is drawn after the 4th Random Formation for the AAA Class teams, as the NSL competition draw for the other three categories is based on the AAA Class sequences.

Catching up: Dallas En Fuego
Last weekend, all four categories had only Random Formations in Round 4. It was no surprise that six of the seven returning teams from Texas posted their highest 2012 meet averages at the Dallas Super Cup. However, this also includes Rookie Class team Spaceland Toxic who are not seeing any other but Super Sequences in each and every round.

The record averages in Texas could easily be explained only with the Super Sequence, but this would not do justice to the team performances last weekend. The 15.0 average of Dallas Khaos XP was not only supported by the 25-pointer in Round 4. The Khaos scores for the other slower rounds were also a point higher than at the previous meets, except in Round 6. The same counts for the other two AAA Class teams, as well as for Dallas Storm and the Glitter Girls on the AA Class leaderboard.

Dallas Pulse did not have any 1-digit number on the leaderboard after three of them in August, and the two AA Class teams simply scored higher in all rounds and all sequences. Also, Dallas En Fuego, with player coach Annie Peterson this time, has apparently caught up with the Dallas Khaos XP pace. Only the 3-point deduction in Round 6 made the difference look bigger than it is. There will be a tough internal Texas race at the USPA Nationals 2012.
