Did You Know...

... that the Skydive Chicago Furies offer an "Introduction to 4-way" this weekend?

posted May 18th, 2006 - The Midwest Skydiving League is not yet launching the 2006 season. However, the teams of the league are busy preparing themselves and other skydivers for the first meet on June 3. MWSL Director Alan Butt mentioned that one of his teams, the Skydive Chicago Furies, organize an "Introduction to 4-way" this weekend at Skydive Chicago.

The Furies with Gosia Cienkosz, Lisa DeSimone, Sarah Lawrence, Shannon Sweet and Charles Lane (video) attended three meets of the MWSL 2005 season (7.2 - 10.5 - 10.6) and dominated the A Class competition of the Midwest Skydiving League last year. The great progression also placed the Furies on the very top of the NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition winner list in 2005 collecting a total of 90 free tunnel minutes.

The Furies competed at the Intermediate Class competition of the USPA Nationals 2005 and had to move up from the A Class to do so. However, the team was prepared for the challenge after practicing the additional eight blocks here and there during the regular 2005 season.

The team from Skydive Chicago finished with a very impressive 9.8 average in 13th position of the higher class and proudly accepted the NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition certificates from the NSL News in Perris. This year, the Furies will begin in the AA/Intermediate Class and stay there throughout the whole season.

The 2006 line-up is identical with last year's, and the team goals include a 10-average in the AA/Intermediate Class at the meets of the 2006 season.

This weekend, the Furies want to forward their own fresh experiences to other skydivers in the area who might consider joining a team for the MWSL 2006 season or in the near future. The Furies' "Introduction to 4-way" offers a weekend of coaching, organizing, friendly competition and explanation of "...what the heck F-14-O means."

The weekend camp is designed for anyone wanting to learn about 4-way, including experienced skydivers. The Furies members are specifically inviting skydivers who have less than 500 "competitive 4-way belly jumps". Topics of discussions during the camp include job descriptions of the four different slots in a team, exits and block techniques, team dynamics and how to get started in 4-way competition.

Exit training with the Furies
The Furies offer a special deal for the participants. The $15 registration fee for the weekend camp includes videos, coaching, informational materials and prizes. The Furies' "Introduction to 4-way" will be hosted by Skydive Chicago, the team's home drop zone.

MWSL Director Alan Butt plans to be on site this Saturday and supports the team building effort by his strongest team of the 2005 season. The training camp at Skydive Chicago will take place while ten other leagues in the USA and Europe compete on the same weekend.
