posted May 1st, 2006 - Round six of the Southwest Skydiving League's April meet concludes the NSL-TV coverage of this event.

The 4-team competition in the AAA/Open Class ended with a "tie-breaker" between Elsinore Gravity and Thunder. The battle between both teams had gone back and forth throughout the first five rounds and was tied before going into round six. The slow and technical sequence (19-11-18) was not really perfectly suited to break a tie.

However, the distance between Gravity and Thunder at the end of the 35-second working time was large enough to place one team ahead of the other one, and the Elsinore team was the winner this time. In fact, Gravity worked out a significant advantage, completed the whole Block 19 (Ritz - Icepick) well within 35 seconds and was on the way to build the first Photon for a 15-pointer.

The Elsinore team did not look faster than Thunder at all. Actually, Gravity's strategy to master the technically challenging sequence looked almost cautious and slow. The result was a flawless performance based on a good exit and an average pace.

Thunder had a great exit, as well, and completed the subterminal Block 19 just as well and quick as Elsinore Gravity. Thunder looked more aggressive and showed the extra energy and motivation to win the last round and the whole meet. A missed completion of Block 18 (Zircon - Zircon) and a few slower builds of the Ritz added up and created the distance at the end of the working time.

The competition between Thunder and Elsinore Gravity was exciting to watch, and the NSL-TV audience surely appreciated the great show over six rounds. The next SSL meet is coming up on May 20 in Perris, and both teams will hopefully take it on once again. This time, the Perris home team, Perris Fury, will probably make it a 3-way race.

Elsinore Select and Arizona Divewerkz had their tie-breaker already in round five, as the NSL News story on April 28 reported. Select added two more points to the lead in round six and ended up with a 5-point advantage over Arizona Divewerkz.
