posted Mar 1st, 2011 - The NSL News covered the AA/Intermediate Class competition at the Valentine's Meet 2011 with the first story on 24 February 2011. The Project Home Team lineups of Eloy Firestorm and Code 99 had gone neck to neck for six rounds and were tied in 3rd place.

The two other AA Class teams, Fenix from Brazil and Cold Fusion, both ended up with a 7.8 average and far ahead of the bronze medal position. However, the meet average was only exactly the same since Fenix completed ten rounds. The team's average was 8.3 after the official six rounds of the Valentine's Meet.

The race for the gold medals in the same category was not really that competitive until Round 6 came along. The Brazilian ladies had won four of the first five rounds and were ten points ahead of Cold Fusion after Round 5.

The fastest sequence of the meet, with four random formations, brought a 7-point swing. Fenix still won the meet after six rounds, however, only a 3-point advantage was left after all. Fenix suffered another low-score Round 7 and then recovered eventually.

Cold Fusion had player coach Anneliese Peterson in the lineup, which was probably the winning factor in Round 6. The Spaceland Blue member at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 and Alpha Armada member at the Dubai Championship 2011 knows how to deal with the situation when an extraordinarily fast sequence comes up.

Cold Fusion outscored all other AA Class teams by far, and the team members recorded their highest personal scores for a round. The AA Class teams were done after six rounds, even though Fenix completed all ten rounds for training purposes, and Annie Peterson continued with Teiwaz West on Sunday for two more rounds.

There was a good reason why two Brazilian teams attended the Valentine's Meet. X-Dogs and Fenix are both military teams and will represent their country this year at the CISM Championships. They were in the middle of a training camp in Eloy, and the meet fit perfectly to their schedule.

Brazil is hosting the CISM Championship this year, and the event is scheduled at the end of July. NMP-PCH Hayabusa is the defending champion of the past years, and there is no serious competition in sight for the Belgian team.

Andre Ferraz, Point of the Brazilian national 4-way team CTR Optimum, was coaching both Brazilian teams in Eloy. He said that his own team has made plans for the 2011 season, as well, and the NSL News will soon get an update from Brazil.
