posted Jun 12th, 2014 - The Sun Path Products NSL News update on 7 June 2014 was too early assuming that Monaco Vitalsea would turn the tables with the French Air Force team from Nice at the first Coupe de France competition of the 2014 season.

The next update of the same meet weekend on 9 June 2014 showed a leaderboard where both teams were tied on the very top of the AAA Class competition after eight rounds.

It was the end of the competition in France, while the German teams at the Paranodon Cup added two more rounds to their annual meet. Monaco Vitalsea and Armee de l'Air both finished with a 14.9 average after two very different days, with Monaco Vitalsea winning the first four rounds by four points and Armee de l'Air catching up all the way on the second day.

Monaco Vitalsea was still up by three points going into the last round after giving up the first point of the meet in Round 7. In fact, it took the Air Force team with Volt'R member Damien Gouriou only two rounds to reduce the previous deficit, and Round 8 was the successful finish of catching up after falling behind in the first three rounds.

Monaco Vitalsea was declared the official winner of the first Coupe de France competition of 2014 since the French Air Force team is not eligible for medals as the military national team. The same counts for the other French national teams.

Both teams are going into the 8th year of their internal competition at the meets in France, and it was the first time of 26 duels, including indoor competitions, that they ended up in a tie. Last weekend's French thriller was reason enough for the Sun Path Products to check the available records.

Monaco Vitalsea was launched as a team project for the 2007 season, while the French Air Force team had competed in earlier years and before the Monaco team, with team mates and friends of the French national 8way lineups in the late 80s and early 90s, came together.

The experienced former world class 8way competitors started at a significantly higher scoring level in 2007 (15.5 - 10.2) when both teams met for the first time. Monaco Vitalsea maintained the dominance until the end of the 2010 season, and Armee de l'Air won for the first time at the Aerokart Indoor Championship in February 2011.

Monaco Vitalsea still won all outdoor meets in 2011, however, it became clear that the times of easy dominace by the Monaco team were over.

Armee de l'Air repeated the victory at the Aerokart Indoor Championship a year later and added the first outdoor winner (13.8 - 13.6) over Monaco at the national championships.

Then came the complete turnover in 2013. The Air Force team won the indoor competition for the third time and also outscored Monaco Vitalsea at the three outdoor meets last year. The 2013 meets included a 1-point thriller (14.9 - 14.8) at the second event of the Coupe de France.

The first two meets of the 2014 season indicate that Monaco Vitalsea is ready to at least fight back this year. The indoor victory in February and the tied 1st place with the 14.9 average last weekend are a good start for the Monaco team. The next Coupe de France competition is scheduled for July 12th.
