News Article Did you know that the new Canadian champion Evolution is a family affair?
posted: Aug 7th, 2005 There was a time in Formation Skydiving competition history when Canada was one of the leading nations in the world. Back in the 70's and 80's, think tank Eric Bradley invented the "Boxman" body position and structured the first and most successful load organizing system in Zephyrhills. Rob Laidlaw was an active competitor and guided Canadian 4-way and 8-way teams to medals at world championships and world cups. He later founded Skydive University together with Tom Piras. Peter Gannaw and Larry Boudreau were well known Canadian names. Michel Lemay goes back to these days, and he is a current... (more)
News Article Did you know that 4-way records tumbled in Canada and the UK?
posted: Aug 1st, 2005 CanAm Skydiving League Director Scott Anderson surprised the NSL News last week, exactly on July 27, with a message that was related to the Canadian Championship 2005. He forwarded a note that he received through the CSPA (Canadian Sport Parachuting Association) chat list: "This morning at 08:39 a Twin Otter took off from the Canadian Nationals in Farnham. Team Stratosphere exited and set a new Canadian Record for 4-way Formation Skydiving with 26 points. At 09:15 am, the Twin Otter took off again, and team Evolution broke that record by scoring 32 points. Both these jumps were round two of... (more)
News Article Did you know that the CanAm meet included a lot of waiting time?
posted: Jun 21st, 2005 The first meet of the 2005 CanAm season was beset by the same conditions that many of the previous meets had also suffered: Low, solid clouds. Three AAA Class teams patiently waited for the weather to clear. Two veterans of the CanAm league, Team Go (Bob Semmens, Rob Murray, Randy Wurzburger, Robert Bilinsky and Adam Grainger on video) and Vertical Descent (Rob Stipsits, Ellen Komejin, Ahmed Kolb, Mike Pitt and Brad Vale on video) were present. The third team was Evolution (Martin Lemay, Vincent Lemay, Michel Lemay, Francois Pigeon and Peter Toutoudakis on video) who made the 7-hour trek from... (more)
News Article Did you know that Al Altendorfer and the weather both had beautiful comebacks in the CanAm Skydiving League?
posted: Jul 20th, 2004 CanAm Skydiving League director Scott Anderson began his meet report with an unusual opening: "Something strange happened at Meet #2 of the CanAm league. No one was quite sure what to make of it.......It was sunny and winds were low!" No wonder, it is not unusual that skydiving events north of the border have serious weather problems. The first attempt of CanAm meet this year had been weathered out already. Maybe the weather god decided not to be in the way of Al Altendorfer's comeback as a meet judge for the CanAm Skydiving League. Altendorfer was one of the CanAm founders and helped a lot... (more)
