posted Aug 31st, 2011 - Four teams returned to Chicagoland Skydiving’s new location in Rochelle, Illinois, this past Saturday for the 3rd meet of the Midwest Skydiving League 2011. As with the last meet, MWSL Director Alan Butt could report terrific weather, a rarity this Midwest summer, especially on weekends.

"The teams were again concentrated in just two classes: AA and A. The Angry Birds, who won in their category at the first two meets, were joined by SDC Jetstream Tango and SDC Flying Fish. It was a very close meet, somewhat influenced by video busts. But the Birds won their third straight meet with a total of 34 points. The Fish and Jetstream tied for second just three points behind.

The Fish earned the XP Challenge prize of 10 minutes of tunnel time at the Paraclete XP tunnel in Raeford, NC, for the "Most Improved Performance". Meanwhile Jetstream won Rhythm’s Coaches’ Choice Award of $100 off a Rhythm XP tunnel camp in recognition of their commitment and positive attitude throughout the meet."

Alan Butt reported that the ArchRivals once again had no local competition at last weekend’s meet: "That didn’t stop them from putting up their best scores ever for a 7.3 average, including their first double digit score ever in Round 2."

SDC Rhythm XP’s Steve Lefkowitz handled most of the coaching duties, while JaNette Lefkowitz helped out and also flew Center Inside for the Angry Birds. When the Archrivals ran into problems due to a reserve ride by their camera flyer, Steve stepped in and multitasked by videoing their last three jumps while continuing to coach. Despite his lack of experience, Steve proudly pronounced his work “judgeable”, a view that fortunately was shared by the meet judge.

Alan Butt summarized: "All in all, we had a fun meet in great weather at the new CSC location. This marked CSC’s 13th consecutive year hosting NSL meets. Thanks to Woody, Lisa, Doug and the rest of the CSC staff for making us all feel welcome at and again running a very smooth meet. Our fourth and final meet for 2011 is just around the corner on September 10th at Skydive Chicago."
