Did You Know...

... that NSL-TV features the unofficial female 4-way competition in Bedford?

Medals for UK, USA and France at the World Meet 2008 in France
posted May 10th, 2010 - The story on 6 May 2010 was the second part of a closer look at the situation in the female category of 4-way competition after the completion of the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2010 and the World Challenge 2010.

The first two stories focused mostly on the three top contenders for the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010, who are also the defending medalists of the World Meet 2008 in France: United Kingdom (Team Bodyflight), USA (Spaceland Blue), France (Aerokart Deep Blue).

This time, the NSL News adds to the new review the other teams in the female 4-way category that competed at the indoor meet in Bedford at the beginning of April. Some of them will also represent their countries at the World Meet 2010 in Russia. The review begins with the competition videos of Rounds 1 - 3 at Bodyflight Bedford and features Germany's team ISB Air, Norway's team Polaris and the Brit Chicks, plus the two top teams in the AAA Class.

ISB Air with Pia Weingart at a 2010 training camp in Spain
The German team ISB Air is not the country's national team this year, and it also did not have a complete female lineup at the World Challenge 2010. However, the NSL News has added ISB Air to this feature story anyway, and there are good reasons for that.

The NSL News had introduced the new 2010 lineup with the story on 10 February 2010. Sarah Hajooze (Point), Anne Heinrich (Tail) and Susa Serra (Center Outside) were missing their original Center Inside, Pia Weingart, in Bedford. The reason was a skiing accident the week before the indoor competition that literally knocked the young ISB Air engine out of the event.

Her team members reported that she was still lucky, as she had no more serious injuries and would probably recover quickly. She was following the competition on-line while recovering at home.

ISB Air with Gary Smith at the World Challenge 2010
Coach Gary Smith filled the Center Inside slot for Pia Weingart in Bedford, and the competition videos show the former DeLand Majik 4-way world champion of 2004 and DeLand Fire world champion of 2006 back in action.

It was a very short call for the team and the coach, and there was not much time for getting used to each other in the tunnel air. Pia Weingart has been the Center Inside for the Incognito Leutkirch and now ISB Air lineup ever since the team was founded, and her original team mates in the Tail and Point slots had to get used very quickly to a new command center.

The videos show how the team was dealing with the unexpected situation. ISB Air with Gary Smith finished in 15th place with a 21.9 average. The NSL News will soon follow up with the next rounds of the unofficial female competition in Bedford.
