NSL News Coverage of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024

Did You Know...

... that iFLY SF Bay won the Indoor Cloud League October competition?

Ready for a competition round in Prague: Bad Boys
posted Nov 5th, 2015 - The final results of the Indoor Cloud LeagueOctober competition brought the wind tunnel teams closer together, as the 2015 leaderboard is showing.

Jan Klapka's Sportflight team at the Hurricane Factory in Prague was not able to submit scores in all six categories. The Hurricane Factory and the Czech teams had a very busy month as the host of the 1st FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championships. The Czech ICL scores for only three categories allowed five other ICL teams to reduce the distance to the leader. iFLY Orlando, currently in 2nd place for the year, won 49 points and is now only 63 points behind the Hurricane Factory, with two more months to go. Two of the three scores from Prague were the highest ones in the respective categories (AA - A) though, and Jan Klapka had the highest total for only these three sequences.

SkyVenture Montreal was in a similar situation with only four scores and two missing categories. The Canadians had the highest total for their four categories and could have won the October competition with two more videos and scores.

NCSL team at iFLY SF Bay
Lori Connor's Northern California Skydiving League group at iFLY SF Bay took the most advantage of the missing scores from Canada and Czech Republic and won the monthly competition for the first time. iFLY SF Bay also gained ten points on iFLY Orlando and is now 59 points behind in 3rd place. The Rookie Class competitors contributed heavily at iFLY SF Bay.

iFLY Seattle held the monthly ICL event on October 21st. Deb Correia had a small turnout this time, with three lineups and the coaches performing the AAA and AA sequences later. Two last-minute cancellations due to illness made it a challenging organizing job, as the coaches had to scramble and re-arrange the lineups.

Deb Correia plans to test a new format at iFLY Seattle in November: "We'll be flying early Sunday evening. Each group will have four flying sessions with two different sequences each. Then we'll get out, debrief, and then fly the same sessions over again, applying what we see in the debriefing. I'm excited to see how this affects our scores. People have asked for this format before, but it usually gets too late mid-week."

Dallas 350 members at the USPA Nationals 2015
Amanda Lampton at iFLY Dallas was in a similar situation as Jan Klapka was in Prague. She competed at the USPA Nationals 2015 in several events, together with many other Formation Skydiving competitors from Texas, and she did not have much time to run ICL events and activities.

iFLY Dallas did not have a score for the AAA Class sequence, which is usually performed by Dallas 350, or at least a few team members. Dallas 350 had the tie-breaking battle with Spaceland Lite on top of the priority list in October, and the Sun Path Products NSL News will go back to this exciting duel soon.

The highscores for the month of October were taken by three foreign wind tunnels (Hurricane Factory, SkyVenture Montreal, Indoor Skydive Roosendaal), and iFLY SF Bay saved the honors for the US based tunnel builder. iFLY Orlando, iFLY Dallas and iFLY Seattle collected their ICL October points without posting any highscores...
