Did You Know...

... that iFLY Orlando posted the first Indoor Cloud League scores for July?

Kurt Gaebel - James Hall - Hal Spence - Nick Davis
posted Jul 6th, 2015 - The first Indoor Cloud League scores and videos for the July sequences are coming from iFLY Orlando, while the June leaderboard is still open for another day.

The first July event of the Florida Skydiving League team brought together a smaller group than usual, as the goal was different for this FSL Tunnel Kicker. The focus was set on training of individual flying skills, and the participants were flying in smaller groups most of the time.

However, the last two flying sessions of the tunnel night last Thursday were still assigned to the goal of collecting the first scores for July's Indoor Cloud League competition. A total of 106 points is the starting number for iFLY Orlando this month.

The sequence for the RR Class (M,P,D) has the highest score with a 27-pointer. The video clip is showing how new ICL competitor Nick Davis handles the Inside Center slot for the Rookie Class sequence, and he delivers a quite impressive performance.

The RR Class lineup includes three AAA Class competitors next to Nick Davis, which makes it necessary to take a closer look at the ICL rules. Player coaches Hal Spence, James Hall and Kurt Gaebel made it easy enough for Nick Davis to master his challenging slot assignment. The ICL rules allow two player coaches for R and RR Class lineups, while A and RRR Class lineups may use only one player coach.

The ICL rules define a player coach as "a person who has scored 13+ average in AAA at any outdoor meet or 17+ average in AAA at any tunnel meet". Neither Hal Spence nor James Hall have posted outdoor results on the required scoring level so far, even though they have been helping ICL beginners as solid indoor team mates for quite a while at iFLY Orlando.

In fact, they have recently formed AAA Class team DeLand Momentum and posted their first AAA Class scores with an 8.8 average at the April meet of the Florida Skydiving League. Hopefully, they will soon get to the 13+ average level that will officially qualify both as ICL player coaches.

The indoor situation is different for James Hall, who won the AA Class competition at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2015 with Team Kaputt and an 18.0 average. He was the second official player coach in Nick Davis' RR Class lineup, together with his Team Kaputt team mate Kurt Gaebel.

The situation was similar for Ben Hill in the R Class. He had Bob Byrne, Jim Prochaska and Sebastian Jimenez in his lineup, who are well skilled indoor competitors. However, only Bob Byrne qualifies as a player coach with several Teiwaz outdoor averages above the 13+ average. Above all, the new 4-way competitors in the Rookie Class categories still have to deliver their own performances successfully...
