NSL News Coverage of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024

Did You Know...

... that Arizona X-Force has joined the VFS 4-way pursuit of 2015 spots on the USPA podium?

SDC Core at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship
posted May 31st, 2015 - The last Sun Path Products NSL News update of events in the VFS 4-way world came with the story on March 8th, which was posted right after the conclusion of the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2015.

The event included a category for VFS 4-way, as SDC Core was looking for an opportunity to compete and be judged under pressure. There was no direct competition for the former Dubai Nexus members Jason Russell and Stephanie Strange, now with Dusty Hanks, Ryan Risberg and Jake Jensen in the new lineup.

The team's goal is to win the USPA Nationals 2015 and compete for the USA at the World Meet 2016 on their home turf at Skydive Chicago.

New VFS 4-way team X-Force
There was no competition for SDC Core in DeLand this March, however, there are VFS 4-way opponents who have the same goal. Arizona Arsenal is the reigning US champion in this event, and last year's silver medalist SDC Standard is also in the mix, as VFS videographer Niklas Daniel told the Sun Path Products NSL News earlier this year.

Niklas Daniel is running the AXIS Flight School, based at Skydive Arizona in Eloy, and he said that there is even more competition: "AXIS Flight School now has a competition division called X-Force."

The team's lineup consists of Brianne Thompson, Johnny Gunn, Niklas Daniel, Seth Studer and Kevin Mitchell. Niklas Daniel handed over the camera equipment more than two years ago and has performed in front of the camera for Arizona Arsenal ever since. Brandon Atwood was filming Arsenal, and Kevin Mitchell is now team videographer for X-Force. Niklas Daniel said that his own team has "set the sights on the podium at the 2015 USPA National Championships".

This brings the number of teams aiming at USPA medals to four, which means that one of them will not make it onto this year's podium. Each team seems to have very close geographical competition, as well. Arsenal and X-Force compete for the top spot at Skydive Arizona, while Standard and Core are both home at Skydive Chicago.

X-Force member Brianne Thompson was a member of the US national teams in 4-way Women for several years before she turned to VFS 4-way competition in 2013. She won a silver medal with Fastrax Blue in Maubeuge 2008 and a bronze medal with Spaceland Blue in Menzelinsk 2010.

Niklas Daniel was filming both teams at that time. Now they have joined forces in the active lineup in VFS 4-way.
