Did You Know...

... that last weekend's AA Class scores provide 2014 insights?

Intermediate Class medalists at the USPA Nationals 2013
posted Jun 26th, 2014 - The AA Class teams had their strong appearance last weekend, after the A Class teams dominated the overall leaderboard on the prior meet weekend. 12 teams posted scores at four different meet locations.

The results of the teams in the first three places provided a very good insight at this very early point in time of what can be expected at this year's USPA Nationals in the Intermediate Class competition.

The same three teams had also competed at the USPA Nationals 2013 where they did not finish close to the top of this category's leaderboard. However, this will will most likely be different at this year's national championships.

Synergy at the USPA Nationals 2013
Actually, Synergy was in the mix for the USPA medals last year with an 11.0 average. The bronze medal winner was only one single point better than the Northwest Skydiving League team. However, Synergy was not eligible for USPA medals and ended up at the bottom of the official leaderboard.

Last year's USPA gold medalist, Dallas Khaos Khobalt, won with an 11.8 average. It is quite obvious that last weekend's three top teams will become Intermediate Class top contenders at this year's USPA Nationals.

Spaceland SPX5 was also only a few points behind the USPA medal positions last year and would still be eligible for Intermediate Class medals in 2014. Last weekend's leaderboard shows that SPX5 has decided to move up into the AAA Class for the 2014 season. The team's meet average is on the same level in the highest category.

TranZend with coach Sally Hathaway
Two teams from Florida on last weekend's AA Class leaderboard have the USPA Nationals 2014 on their schedule for the 2014 season, as well. Skydive City teams SCZ FurtheranZe XP and TranZend are both new lineups who are not at the Texas scoring level yet.

However, at least SCZ FurtheranZe XP, with player coach Bob Byrne in the Center Outside slot, has the USPA medal positions as a target, and the 12-pointer in Round 4 shows that the team has the potential to keep up with the teams from Texas and Synergy. TranZend lost nine points due to video angles last weekend, which brought the meet average to a level that does not look very threatening to SCZ FurtheranZe XP and the Texas teams at the moment. Coach Sally Hathaway is working with the team, and the video issues will be fixed at the time of the major events.

Two Czech teams, with last year's A Class team Zoonte in 4th place, and the Angry Birds from Slovenia completed last weekend's AA Class leaderboard.
