Did You Know...

... that the Canadian Indoor Championships are at half way point?

Fuzion at the 4th DIPC 2013
posted Mar 22nd, 2014 - The Canadian Indoor Skydiving Championship 2014 are at the half way point after four completed rounds. The Sun Path Products NSL News coverage included a live feed from the 14-foot flying chamber at SkyVenture Montreal, which will be set up again for the second half on Sunday.

The situation is very interesting in two of the three traditional 4way Formation Skydiving events. Evolution, with team coach and former 4way world champion Shannon Pilcher in the lineup for Katie Woods, is in 1st place after Round 4, and there is nothing surprising about that.

The interesting point is the fact that Canada's national 4way team in 4way Women, Fuzion, is only eight points behind Evolution in 2nd place. The female competition between the three teams behind Evolution is reduced to a battle for the 3rd place between Phoenix and Torque, while Fuzion is moving up to a new level of performance and scoring standards.

Impulsion's 2013 lineup in the AAA Class
Fuzion had posted an 18.9 average at the same event last year, still with new Phoenix member Monika Wittmer in the lineup, and the team followed up with a good outdoor progression (13.4 - 14.6 - 15.6) until the national championships. Then came the personnel change when Kassandra Gagnon joined the team.

The new Fuzion lineup competed at the USPA Nationals 2013 and the 4th Dubai International Parachuting Championship 2013 and finished with 13.7 at both events.

Fuzion has staretd the second season with the new lineup at the Canadian Indoor Skydiving Championship 2014, and the first half of the competition produced very promising scores. Fuzion managed to tie Evolution in Round 3 and was only one point behind in Round 2. The current 22.5 average is a great start into the 2014 season.

4Astrophe in the A Class of 2013
The situation is very interesting in a different way in the AA Class competition. Neither of the teams in the first two places, 4Astrophe and Impulsion, competed in the AA Class last year, but they both came from two different directions.

Impulsion attended three meets last year in the AAA Class (Yanik Beaulieu, Vicki Gauthier, Daniel Giroux, Luc De La Chevrotière) and came back in the AA Class this year with two new members (Luc De La Chevrotière, Vicki Gauthier, Celine Gagnon, Mathieu Ouellett).

4Astrophe went the other way after competing in the A Class in 2013. The Bisson family team, with father Richard Bisson and his two children, Yannick (11) and Valerie (16), are clearly in 1st place with an 18.5 average, while Impulsion tries to defend the 2nd place. 4Astrophe's current 18.5 average will guarantee a position in medal contention at the World Challenge 2014.
