Did You Know...

... that Dubai Nexus created their own direct VFS 4way competition?

VFS 4way Open Class awards at the USPA Nationals 2013
posted Oct 22nd, 2013 - The Sun Path Products NSL News story on 8 October 2013 covered the VFS 4way competition at the USPA Nationals 2013. Only the VFS 4way competition videos of the World Cup 2013 in Banja Luka were available at this point in time.

NSL-TV now follows up with the competition videos of the French reigning VFS 4way world champions, Team4speed SD. The previous story explained comprehensively how Team4speed SD and Dubai Nexus have been challenging each other this year with their new lineups, and how the national team of the United Arab Emirates has maintained the upper hand so far.

An earlier story on 29 September 2013 brought the US team Arizona Arsenal into the same VFS 4way picture with Dubai Nexus and Team4speed SD. Arsenal will represent the USA at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2014 in Prostejov and has an uphill road ahead to get closer to the two top teams.

Without serious competition after the Mondial 2012: Dubai Nexus
In fact, there was only one top team left after the Mondial Dubai 2012. The French national team and 2-time world champion of 2010 and 2012 announced at the end of the year that the team will not continue, and SDC Standard XP had no plans for the future, as well.

Dubai Nexus was without any serious competition at this point in time. The next team down the Mondial VFS 4way rankings was Evolution from Canada in 4th place. There was a 63-point difference (23.1 - 15.3) between Nexus and Evolution after the eight rounds in Dubai.

The Nexus members did not like the perspective very much of having no competition in their category. Evolution had plans to intensify the training and also changed the lineup for the 2013 season. However, the double duties between traditional 4way and VFS 4way would make it difficult for the Canadians to keep up with the professional VFS 4way experts from Dubai.

It happened almost at the same time that Skydive Dubai purchased the skydiving center in Empuriabrava, Spain, which is not too far from France. Jason Russell, Nexus member and Skydive Dubai's CEO, saw an opportunity to create attractive VFS activities in Empuriabrava by hosting and sponsoring Team4speed.

He offered his ideas to his his direct competitors from France, and that's when the team name of the French team changed to Team4speed SD, which stands for Skydive Dubai. Team4speed SD now represents the same skydiving business and still continues to compete for France.

The athletic results of the smart business move are on hand. Jason Russell and Dubai Nexus can feel the new French pressure and are forced to keep going forward. The VFS 4way duels between Team4speed SD and Dubai Nexus in 2013 have been exciting, while Arizona Arsenal and Evolution will try to get closer to the two top teams.
