Did You Know...

... that NRG and Whooops continued the 2013 drama of jump-offs and tie-breakers?

Perfect comeback after four years: NRG
posted Aug 30th, 2013 - The 2013 season may have become one of the most exciting years in history.

The Sun Path Products NSL News reported the jump-off and tie-breaking drama in 4way Women at the World Cup 2013 comprehensively. Two German teams then copied the drama in a very similar way almost at exactly the same time.

Two teams at the Dutch Nationals now followed up with almost exactly the same drama as in Banja Luka. Whooops and NRG were tied after Round 10 and also matched their scores in the jump-off round. The tie-breaking procedure had to be applied and went even deeper than between Golden Knights and Aerodyne French Girls.

Whooops at the World Cup 2013 in Banja Luka
The competition between Whooops and NRG was the tightest one of the year and probably one of the closest races in the history of the sport. Both teams tied seven of their eleven rounds and never outscored the opponent by more than one point in the other four rounds.

Both teams also tied their highest score of the meet in Round 5, and the current tie-breaking rules were now looking for the highest score per round in reverse order. Whooops and NRG had also tied Round 10, and NRG had won the previous Round 9. The 15-pointer was the winner of the Dutch championship title.

It was a very unfortunate ending for the Dutch national team of the past years. Both teams were tied after Round 7, and Whooops broke this tie by winning Round 8. NRG won the point back a round later, and nothing changed from here on until after the jump-off round.

Goal for the year achieved: Whooops beyond 15-average after ten rounds
It was also an unfortunate finish of the Dutch 2013 season for Whooops for another reason. Whooops actually posted the highest meet average in the team's long history and finally beat the 15-average benchmark after ten rounds, which was the goal for the 2013 season.

It would have been a perfect ending - without the interference of NRG and the jump-off. The Sun Path Products NSL News reported on 21 April 2013 that coach Gary Smith expected competition for Whooops in the Netherlands this year. However, it was Creeps who were challenging Whooops at the Tomscat Trophy, where NRG did not even compete. In fact, it was the first competition for NRG after a very long break. NRG had attended the team's last 4way competition at the World Cup 2009 in Prostejov after posting a 16.0 average at the Dutch Nationals 2009. Whooops, in the team's second AAA Class season in 2009, knew of the NRG strength, as this year's winner had also outscored Whooops in 2008 and 2009. What a comeback for NRG...

Cool Runnings also posted a new team record average, and the two teams in the A Class were in a horse race, too. The Sun Path Products NSL News will go back to the Dutch Nationals 2013 with more information later.
