Did You Know...

... that UK's double gold medalist 4mula had a promising start into the 2013 season?

    4mula 2013 lineup
posted May 2nd, 2013 - The season opener of the Southern California Skydiving League 2013 generated the second largest participation in Perris ever since the Southwest Skydiving League was split up into the Arizona and the Southern California leagues. The 12-team field in 2009 remains the SCSL record number, while last weekend's eleven teams are showing a significant upswing compared to the last years.

The SDC Rhythm XP members activated six lineups with player coaches on Christy Frikken's home turf. Even the local videographers could not keep up with the work load, and Dan BC put a camera on his helmet to help out.

The AA Class field included a visiting team from the United Kingdom. 4mula's new 2013 lineup tested the AA Class dive pool for the first time in a meet environment after a training camp in Perris.

UK gold medals in 2011 and 2012
4mula is another great example for a team that has been using the NSL competition classes to learn the dive pool step by step and year by year. The first lineup trained and competed in the Rookie Class of 2010. 4mula attended three meets of the United Kingdom Skydiving League (4.0 - 5.0 - 5.0) and finished in 16th place at the UK Nationals with a 4.6 average.

The first year in the Rookie Class was a learning experience in 4way competition, and 4mula came back in the same category in 2011. The performance was on a completely different level. 4mula was much more competitive and eventually won the Rookie Class gold medals at the UK Nationals 2011 with a 12.6 average.

It was a remarkable event for Tail Marcus Wallen. His most memorable moment in skydiving was being next to his team mates on the podium in 2011.

For the UK delegation at the ESL Championship 2012
It was the end of the Rookie Class competition, and 4mula stepped up into the A Class for the 2011 season. The early 11.0 average at a meet of the regular season indicated that 4mula would be competitive in this category, as well, and the team surely was.

The new A Class team was up to a 13.0 average at the time of the UK Nationals 2012, which won the next set of gold medals consecutively. 4mula then traveled to the Netherlands to support the UK delegation at the ESL Championship 2012 in September. The 2nd place contributed well to the UK cause after a great race with teams from Germany and the Netherlands.

The 1st place at the national championships in 2012 is reason enough to step up again, and 4mula competed for the first time in the AA Class last weekend in Perris.

Serious problem: AA Class team Raykipo
The 9.7 average after a great race with a local AA Class lineup won the 1st place at the first SCSL meet this year, and it is also a promising start into the British 2013 season. Hyrrokkin won the AA Class last year with a 12.5 average, followed by Raykipo with a 12.1 average.

There is plenty of time to move up to last year's winning level. In fact, 2012 winner Hyrrokkin started in May 2012 with a 9.3 average. There is one problem though.

Hyrrokkin has moved up into the AAA Class this year, while Raykipo has come back in the AA Class at the World Challenge 2013 and probably for the 2013 season. Raykipo's 20.0 average in Bedford for the 1st place is a tough benchmark and sets the team up as the top favorite in this category. 4mula is the underdog...
